Free Drum Kit - 909

Another free drum kit for all you beat makers out there. This is a kit you must have in your beat making sample library.

From Wikipedia
The Roland TR-909 Rhythm Composer is a partially analog, partially sample-based drum machine built by the Japanese Roland Corporation in 1984. The brainchild of Tadao Kikumoto, the engineer behind the Roland TB-303, it features a 16-step step sequencer and a drum kit that, at that time, aimed for realism and cost-effectiveness. It is fully-programmable, and like its predecessor, the TR-808, it can store entire songs with multiple sections, as opposed to simply storing patterns. Only around 10,000 units were produced.

All drums except for the hi-hats and cymbals are synthetically generated; there is an oscillator circuit with a dedicated filter and envelope curve. The hi-hats and cymbals are 6-bit samples, compressed and combined with a volume envelope curve (and tuning) to allow slight modification. Thanks to the analog circuitry, various aspects of the drum sound can be modified (pitch, attack, decay).

Free Drum Kit - 808

Everyone like a free drum kit so let's begin with one of the all time most requested drum kits...

The legendary Roland TR-808. It's used in almost every form of dance music from disco to house to hip-hop.

From Wikipedia
The Roland TR-808 Rhythm Composer was one of the first programmable drum machines ("TR" serving as an initialism for Transistor Rhythm). Introduced by the Roland Corporation in late 1980, it was originally manufactured for use as a tool for studio musicians to create demos. Like earlier Roland drum machines, it does not sound very much like a real drum kit. Indeed, because the TR-808 came out a few months after the Linn LM-1 (the first drum machine to use digital samples), professionals generally considered its sound inferior to sampling drum machines; a 1982 Keyboard Magazine review of the Linn Drum indirectly referred to the TR-808 as sounding like marching anteaters. However, the TR-808 cost US$1,000 upon its release, which was considerably more affordable than the US$5,000 LM-1

Free Drum Kits - Introduction

Welcome to Free Drum Kits!

This is the beat maker's paradise for free and legal drum kits. We want anyone making beats to have a nice selection of sounds to choose from but we know that many young up and coming beat makers don't have the resources to purchase commercial drum kits.

I have nothing against those that sell drum kits. In fact, I think there are many good drum kits out there that are worth the money. Regardless of the quality, I respect the hard work that goes into the making of a drum kit.

Most people interested in making beats have a burning desire to create something from nothing. I also believe that most people do not want to steal drum kits from torrent sites or other warez sites on the internet if they could only find some legitimate resources.

That's where I step in...

In the coming months and weeks and years I hop to bring a steady stream of drum kits to all you hip hop producers out there on a budget.
